2 And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the LORD:
3 And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.
-The longer we live, the more we learn about the people who care for us. When we first come into the world, our parents are nothing more than giant faces and voices that fill our eyes and ears. But as soon as we get hungry for the first time, we learn that they are also our providers; when we first experience hot or cold, we learn that they are the ones who keep us comfortable; the pattern continues on through life. So it is between God and man; in the garden of Eden, Adam and Eve knew God as their Creator; later on after the fall, God revealed Himself to Abraham and his children as El Shaddai (God Almighty, Genesis 17:1-2); further still, God visited His people in Egypt and revealed Himself as Yhvh (Jehovah, Exodus 6:3). A lot of time has passed since then and while the needs of man have continued to multiply, God has continued to reveal more about who He is. Today we still see Him as the Creator and the Almighty Jehovah, but we see new sides of His character as well: Savior (Ephesians 5:23), Redeemer (Isaiah 49:26), Shepherd (John 10:11), and Christ (1 John 2:22). If you have a need, any need, bring it to the Lord; He stands ready to show you more about Himself and how He is the answer to every need.
