11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
-Notice how Satan misrepresents Psalm 91 here while tempting Jesus. By taking the verse out of context, the Devil attempts to trick Jesus into tempting God the Father to “prove” Himself. Jesus’ answer shows divine wisdom and His victory in this encounter goes without saying, for He is the Word of God; but how would you or I do? Satan has been studying the Bible a lot longer than any of us have. He knows the Bible better than we do and he’s not afraid to use it as a tool to deceive us. If Satan gave us a twisted verse of scripture, would we be able to see through it or would we be deceived. Even if you can’t quote a Bible verse, do you have the discernment to take what you have heard and go study it yourself? The worst of us will try to trick you, but even the best of us can lead you astray unintentionally. The only sure word is the word you get directly from God and the only way you’ll get that is to make time to be in The Word.
