10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
-Notice the three key aspects of overcoming in verse 11. 1) The Blood of the Lamb– this is easy to identify with Jesus as His is the only Blood that has merit in the eyes of the Father. (Hebrews 9:12) This represents the Sacrifice of Christ. 2) The Word of their testimony– what is the Word? The Bible teaches that Jesus is the Word who became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14); so while it is important for Christians to have a testimony, it is Jesus in our testimony that gives it real power. This represents the Person of Christ. 3) They loved not their lives unto the death– we know that Jesus loved not his life unto death because the Bible teaches that He became obedient unto death, even the death of the Cross. (Philippians 2:8) Jesus left us with a clear example of faithfulness and He expects us to follow it. This is the Example of Christ. If you want to be an overcomer, you can only do so by: 1) Trusting in the Sacrifice of Christ, 2) Fellowshipping with the Person of Christ, and 3) Following the Example of Christ.
