10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.
-It’s hard to imagine such an idea; that it pleased God the Father to bruise His own Son. That’s evidence of how much God hates sin and how willing He is to judge it. How does this help us? The biggest help is that by the bruises and stripes of Jesus Christ, all of humanity can be healed. (Isaiah 53:5) But there is another lesson to be learned here: If we were to ask Jesus if He found it pleasing to be bruised, He would undoubtedly say “no”; yet He was willing to endure it because it was pleasing to the Father (Luke 22:42). Just as Jesus’ focus was on doing the Father’s will, so too should we stop judging things in our life as good or bad based on how pleasing they are to us, but rather how pleasing they are to the Father. There are many things that don’t seem pleasing in the moment, but if we truly believe that God can do no wrong, it means everything that comes or way must be right.
