3 Thou hast multiplied the nation, and not increased the joy: they joy before thee according to the joy in harvest, and as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.
-The nation of Israel was growing in terms of power, wealth, and population. But because they were living outside of the Lord’s will, He withheld any increase in joy. Imagine getting more and becoming more but not being able to enjoy it because you did it without the Lord. This principle applies to more than just nations, but also churches, households and individuals and it’s a snare that people fall into every day. It may seem like a good idea to sacrifice your testimony in order to fit in with a certain crowd. It may seem expedient to sacrifice Church attendance for a better paying job. But when you understand that the Lord gives and takes away joy as He sees fit, it gives our life choices a much different perspective.
