Psalm 20:7 – Trust in the Lord

Psalm 20:7
7
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.

-David here is saying that there are some out there who place their confidence in military might (horses and chariots being the jeeps and tanks of his day) and that makes them feel safe.  David recognized the foolishness of such false security and confidently proclaims that the name of the Lord is the only true security.  What do you trust in?  Do you really think that it was your last paycheck that provided food and shelter for you and your family?  Nope, that was God.  Do you think that the lock on your front door kept the bad guys at bay while you slept last night?  Nope, that was God.  Do you think that your body just happened to evolve a set of lungs so you can breathe right now?  It wasn’t evolution, it was God.  I could do this all day but I’ll end with one more:  Do you really think that you could ever do or say anything that would justify you in the eyes of God?  Nope, that was JESUS!
