19 And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?
20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
Read these two verses of scripture carefully; all of verse 19 is being spoken by “they” and all of verse 20 is spoken by God. Notice that “they” will say that a people should seek their God. This is why the Bible teaches us that we should try the spirits (1 John 4:1); because even those who have no light, no connection to God will still speak of God. The problem is that they will mix God with speaking to spirits and speaking to the dead and pretty much anything else that human imagination can dream up. Thankfully, the Lord provides us with the only method we need to test what people tell us of God- If they speak not according to the “Law and Testimony” (The Bible), don’t believe them. That was true when the Lord told Isaiah to write it, and it’s still true today.
