1 Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.
13 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
-In all things in life, it’s important never to over promise. Yet we have a tendency to do this repeatedly every day. How often do we make promises or commitments when in reality we have no way of knowing if we’ll be in any shape to fulfill them, or if time will even last long enough to fulfill them? Everything we say or do should be prefaced by the statement “If it’s the Lord’s will”. This is not a formula of words that we need to apply to our conversations, but rather a way of thinking that should always be at the forefront of our thoughts.
