Acts 3:2-3, 6-8
2 And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;
3 Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.
6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
7 And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
8 And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.
I love this passage of scripture; it would be so easy to simply say “AMEN!” and leave it at that. But let me ask you a question- Have you performed any miracles like this lately? No? Why do you think that is? Have we truly passed the “age of miracles” and God is no longer working in this fashion? Maybe the answer if much simpler; maybe faith these days pales in comparison to the faith of Christians in times’ past. The early church had faith enough to walk on water, heal the sick and weather being stoned with a smile. These days would any of us even believe those things if we saw them? Much less believe enough to do them ourselves. “Without faith it is impossible to please God” (Hebrews 11:6)- It’s not my place to judge whether your faith is lacking, but we are all qualified to weigh our own faith in the balance.
