16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
-The question is often asked “How could a loving God send people to Hell?” As the Lord reminds us here in John 3, we were all under condemnation and on the way to Hell. It was the Lord who wanted to keep us from that fate so badly that He sent is own son to take our place. What more could He do? What stronger statement could be made? “The Lord is not willing that any should perish” (2 Peter 3:9); not once did He ever say to someone, “I hope you don’t get in, you belong in Hell” but instead, He left us with 66 books saying “whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.” (Revelation 22:17)
