Proverbs 27:6 – Faithful Wounds

Proverbs 27:6
6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.

-We tend to focus so much on actions and forget to look at the motives behind them.  If we had a choice, I think we would choose a kiss over a wound most any day, but consider the implications of this Proverb.  Why would a friend wound you?  For your admonition and ultimate good.  How about an enemy?  To hurt you and tear you down.  Why would a friend kiss you?  To display their love and affection towards you.  How about an enemy?  To deceive you or to suit their own selfish interests.  Each of you will be on the receiving end of many actions today; be considerate of the actions themselves, but also be mindful of the person behind the action and why they might be doing it.
