3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
-We see Jesus portrayed in Isaiah 53 as a Man who knows great sorrow and grief. While that is true, there are two very important points to take away from this truth: 1) It is our sorrow and grief that He carries, not His. 2) Carrying our weakness and infirmity did not leave him bitter, broken or defiled. He took our infirmities and was touched with them, but was not polluted by them. (Hebrews 4:15)
