Hebrews 6:17-20 – True To His Word

Hebrews 6:17-20
17
Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath:
18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;
20 Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
-Someone giving their word is a sign of good faith in our culture.  How far a person is willing to go and what they would sacrifice to keep their word defines that person’s integrity.  How far would you go to keep your word?  God gave us His Word; He promised that He would save us from ourselves. (Genesis 3:15)  How far did He go to keep His Word?  He went to Earth, He went to the cross, and He went to the death to keep it.  He “magnified [His] word above [even His] name” (Psalm 138:2) and in doing so, He made His word the most important thing in the universe.  When the Lord makes a promise, you can count on it.
