John 6:37-40
37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
39 And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
Someone giving their word is a sign of good faith in our culture. How far a person is willing to go and what they would sacrifice to keep their word defines that person’s integrity. How far would you go to keep your word? The Lord gave us His Word; He promised that He would save us from ourselves. (Genesis 3:15) How far did He go to keep His Word? He went to Earth, He went to the cross, and He went all the way to the death to keep it. (Philippians 2) He “magnified [His] word above [even His] name” (Psalm 138:2), and in doing so, He made His Word the most important thing in the universe. When the Lord makes a promise, you can count on it.
