14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
Notice that Paul isn’t shy to name-drop here at the end of v15– “even Christ.” There are those who can talk about God all day long and never mention Jesus. John warns us that we “believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” (1 John 4:1) How will we know the difference? “Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God.” (1 John 4:2) If we really know Jesus and what He did for us, how could we talk about God and not talk about Jesus? How could we have any conversation and not brag on Jesus, much less a “religious” conversation?
