1 Corinthians 3:6-8
6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.
8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.
For a human being, there is no greater honor than to be used by the Lord. If you have the opportunity to plant or water in God’s garden, rejoice! But as you toil, never forget that the Lord is the one who’s really doing all the work. Paul makes it clear here that God gives the increase (v. 6) but think about the planting and the watering. Where do you think the seed and water come from? It is God Himself who sends the rain (Matthew 5:45) and one of the purposes of His rain is to provide “seed to the sower.” (Isaiah 55:10) God’s not just responsible for the ending, but also for the beginning. He makes us, He makes the rain and the seed, “and without him was not any thing made that was made.” (John 1:3)
