Exodus 3:15 – The God of our Fathers

Exodus 3:15
15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, the Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.

-When it came to making the Hebrew people understand which God had sent Moses, the Lord wanted it made clear that He was the same God whom their fathers had served.  This is His memorial not just for all the Hebrew, but to all generations; He has been God since before any of us were born; as our fathers and grandfathers walked the earth throughout history, God has always been God.  More than that, the Bible teaches that God is “the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” (Hebrews 13:8)  Just think about all of the goodness and mercy that God has shown to our ancestors.  All of our family lines have probably faced times where they would have been wiped out if not for God’s grace and protection.  So don’t forget God’s memorial to all generations; He was more than good enough for our fathers and, no matter how much better or smarter we may think we are, He is more than good enough for us too.
