For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
-The truth is that Jesus Christ laid down His life for our sins. If we choose not to embrace that truth, we have nowhere else to turn. There are no other saviors coming along who can make peace between God and man. All that’s left is to wait for “judgment and fiery indignation“. Why indignation? Verse 29 tells us that to reject Jesus is to trample Him and His blood under foot; how would you expect God to feel if we treat His precious son with such contempt? The Bible teaches that “God is angry with the wicked every day.” (Psalm 7:11) Make no mistake, rejecting Jesus is the sin that lands people in Hell.
